Preparing for the Harvest
Investing In Students
Training ministry leaders is central to the success of youth ministry. Leaders who invest personally in ministry can be one of the greatest Christian influences in a student’s life. The General Evangelical Christian Youth Department recognizes the need for this type of youth leader. We believe that God raises up special people for this purpose.
It is our privilege each year to award the General ECY Scholarship for the purpose of training future youth leaders, pastors, and missionaries who will invest themselves in young people. This scholarship was awarded in the name of Rev. Dan Parker. Rev. Parker was a visionary in youth ministry and key to the establishment of ECY throughout our denomination. Serving as the Executive Director, he helped develop programs and ministries for the general, district, and local church levels. He was foundational in establishing youth camps which have impacted literally thousands of students across the years. Rev. Parker was a leader, mentor, and friend to a generation of students in the CCCU.
Recognizing our heritage, the General ECY Department is investing in the future of youth ministry. We are pleased to announce Brady Miller as the 2007-08 recipient of the General ECY Scholarship. Brady is a member of Brookside CCCU and graduate of Westfall High School. Early in high school Brady began playing guitar in the Brookside worship team. God used this experience to help him mature as a Christian. While involved in this ministry, Brady began to sense God calling him to full-time ministry. He has a passion for befriending and counseling students in order that they may know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Join us in congratulating Brady as the 2007-08 recipient of the General ECY Scholarship.
Our goal in the ECY Department is to partner with local churches to make disciples of students and to release those students for ministry. Brady is a shining example of the fruit that God producing in the CCCU. Together we can continue to reach this generation and generations beyond for Christ!
We will continue to invest in training students for ministry. Students may apply now for the 2008-09 General ECY Scholarship. The General ECY Scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming freshman student majoring in ministry at Ohio Christian University. Considerations for the scholarship include membership in a local CCCU church, high school GPA, pastor’s reference, and a clear Christian testimony. Interested students are invited to apply each spring.
