Changing Faces of the General ECY Board
New Appointments
The season of change continues to bring new faces to the General ECY Board. The General ECY Board is pleased to announce the appointments of Rev. Jeremy Olson as Vice-President and Rev. Jeni Sanders as Treasurer of the Board. As Vice-President and Treasurer, Jeremy and Jeni will play major roles developing and delivering ministries throughout our denomination.
Rev. Jeremy Olson is an ordained minister in the CCCU. He received his ordination in 2003 and has six years of licensed ministerial experience. A life-long member of Crossroads CCCU, Jeremy has worked extensively in many ministry areas. His primary areas of ministry at Crossroads have been children’s and youth ministry. As a speaker, small group leader, mentor and friend to students, Jeremy has impacted many. He is currently leading a Sunday morning worship experience for school-age kids. A gifted planner and organizer, Jeremy has also served as a coordinator for Crossroads’ sports outreach initiatives. As the local ECY President, Jeremy provides leadership to the larger church body on the Crossroads Church General Board. He has served on the South Central District ECY Board since 2004.
Jeremy’s passion for children and youth is clear. “I believe the thing that is most important about working with youth is seeing that young people are given opportunities to make decisions for Christ and see that they are challenged to pursue a life of ministry. I was given these opportunities as a child and youth, and we must make sure to give these opportunities to the kids and young people of our denomination.”
Jeremy is a 2001 graduate of Ohio Christian University with a degree in Psychology/Human Relations. Jeremy resides in Circleville, OH with his wife, Stephanie, and children, Brady (3) and (Rylee) (1).
Rev. Jeni Sanders serves full-time as Pastor of Children’s Ministry at Winchester CCCU. She leads an exciting ministry called Journeyland. Born and raised at Brookside CCCU, Jeni received Christ as her Savior at age ten. Upon graduating high school, she felt God leading her to enroll at Ohio Christian University and pursue a degree in Youth Ministry. On a student missions trip to Honduras, Jeni accepted a call to missions. Jeni returned with a new focus as she pursued God’s will for her life.
Jeni was married to Craig Sanders, a fellow OCU student, in 2004. In May of 2005, Jeni and Craig graduated with Bachelors degrees in Youth Ministry and Missions respectively. They were both ordained on August 5th, 2007. As ministry partners, Craig and Jeni are following the Lord in each phase of the ministry. Jeni believes that God’s awesome purpose for her life is playing out right now. God her called her to go to Winchester to love kids. She wants them to come to know Christ so that ultimately their whole families will come to know Christ because of their children’s influence. In the future she believes that she and Craig will be on the mission field working with kids and teenagers, teaching them about the love of Christ.
As Treasurer, Jeni will oversee the budgeting and financial controlling of the General ECY Board. She will also work on ministry initiatives and serve on various committees. Jeni adds an effective voice in the areas of children’s and youth ministry. Her exposure and knowledge of cutting edge ministries will benefit the ministries of local churches throughout the denomination.
We also want to welcome Rev. John Truex to the General ECY Board. John was elected as President of the West Central District ECY Board at the WCD District Council in July. He is Pastor of Youth Ministries at Heritage Memorial Church in Washington C.H., Ohio. John is passionate about reaching this generation for Christ. He is a phenomenal communicator and pastor. John is a great asset to his church, his district, and the General ECY.
