SPRING RETREAT 2011
KNOWN
Springtime means ministry for the South Central District ECY! On April 8-10, 2011 students, youth leaders, and pastors from across the denomination will gather for Spring Retreat 2011. Spring Retreat is an annual retreat for junior high and high school students challenging them to commit their lives to Jesus for the first time or go deeper in their walk with Him.
Living in a postmodern world of mystery and uncertainty one sad message is being taught to the students of this generation, nothing is certain. At "KNOWN" it is our goal to combat this lie by educating, building up and equipping students, all within a loving environment and Biblical worldview.
In an attempt to facilitate this spiritual truth and life-changing message we have narrowed our values down to four core points: KNOWN, KNOW, OWN, NOW. It is through these points that we hope and pray that students will realize that God knows them and has a purpose for them, that their complete ownership of a relationship with Jesus Christ is essential and that this is the time they have been given to share His truth within their sphere of influence.
KNOWN: Jeremiah 1:5 says "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Many students float through their youth without a clear understanding of who they are and who God created them to be.
KNOW: Many people believe that God knows them, but few people would admit that they truly KNOW God. To truly know everything about God is impossible, our minds can never comprehend Him. That shouldn't scorch our thirst. It is our mission to aid students in understanding the nature of God, what he did for us, and what he wants for us.
OWN: This is the crucial step in the life of every soul, for this in many cases is where it goes from head to heart and true life transformation occurs. We will challenge and encourage each student to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to their heart and challenge them to OWN it.
NOW: We will end our weekend with a call to be contagious. Using the Great Commission as our battle cry, we will challenge each student to take what God has revealed to them and to impact "their world" for Christ.
